Our mission

To bring meaning to everyday life through recognizing an individual's purpose, strengths, and uniqueness.

Amber Joy Thaxton, LPC

Founder, LPC Supervisor

Amber is a passionate Licensed Professional Counselor with over 13 years of experience in the mental health field. She has found deep joy in learning to abide in God’s presence and brings this foundation of faith, compassion, and authenticity into her work.

In 2019, Amber founded JCC and continues to serve as a leader in the community through training and psychoeducation. While she values these leadership roles, she remains deeply committed to one-on-one client work, believing there is no substitute for the relational depth and impact of individualized care.

Amber loves her role as a therapist because it gives her a front-row seat to the healing power of Jesus Christ in the lives of those she serves. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they pursue emotional health, spiritual growth, and increased self-efficacy.

Amber is also the author of the Fruity Journals devotional series and the founder of Flourish Women’s Wellness Group, both created to support holistic wellness and faith-centered growth.

Supervision

Supervision is a learning environment geared to help supervisees build on their education and skills acquired up until this point. Together we will journey through unfamiliar experiences and find balance in addressing deficits, and engineering one's own clinical insights. This process will help supervisees to take the lead in learning new information, retention and application.

Our approach is to acknowledge and support Counselor Candidates strengths and areas of growth. We consider it an honor to partner with others through their career  journey to seek skill, competency, knowledge and experience. As Licensed Professional Counselors and Supervisors, we will assist our supervisee(s) in setting realistic goals, recognizing strengths, and encouraging their pursuit towards wholeness. Theoretically, we work from Integrative models that include  Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and Client Centered Frameworks. We use theoretical approaches and compassion, along with a number of models and techniques, to comprehend patterns of thoughts and origins of behaviors. We use these tools to better understand the work we do and how to support those we work with.
